What is XML?

It stands for Extensible Markup Language and it was designed to describe data and focus what data is. It is a markup language much like HTML but of course it is slightly different with HTML. In XML, tags are not predefined. XML also use a Document Type Definition (DTD) or an XML schema to describe the data.
